Helping Hands (and Hooves): Horses for the Community

After several requests from remote farmers struggling to find a way to bring their copra and other produce to market, PRV made the significant decision to support these communities by selling horses into hard-to-reach areas. As part of its commitment to lifting up and encouraging growth across Malekula’s agricultural sector, PRV saw this as a practical solution where roads are often inaccessible to vehicles.

All available horses have now been sold, with some advertised on Facebook to ensure wider access. The strong interest shown highlights both the demand and the ongoing importance of horses in supporting rural livelihoods. PRV have made a commitment to expand the horse blood lines available on Malakula by purchasing new stallions and mares for breeding so we can continue to supply horses to Malakula community and grow a strong and health herd on for the local island community.

This is just one of PRV commitment to practical, community-focused solutions that make everyday life easier for farmers and strengthen local agricultural productivity.
