Future Fund Port Vila Rodeo – A rousing success

A good time was had by all at the “2025 Future Fund Port Vila Rodeo” over the weekend. The delighted sounds of locals cheering and laughing were heard as Port Vila’s vibrant community spirit permeated the air throughout the entire weekend.

Talented local and international riders from both Vanuatu and Australia showcased their honed skills as the crowds went wild. From rough-riding broncs, to bucking bulls each event was more thrilling than the last. The crowd was entertained by different characters such as “Wild Bill” and the mischievous dancing bull as they braved the ring.

Local foods such as “Tuluk” were sold to hungry patrons, giving the visiting internationals a chance to sample the local cuisine.

Future Fund’s Managing Director, John Tonner was in attendance both days. “This has been a great weekend and we feel privileged to have been involved supporting this great community event. A shout out to some of the local characters like David Russet, Marco Traverso, Aaron Prendergast and Caroline Ernest who have tirelessly been involved for many years. This year broke the record for the most registered riders and the saddle skills over both days was just awesome. Vanuatu is a totally amazing country and what makes this such a unique paradise, is the people. We’re already looking forward to extending our support into next year and the years to come – well done everyone.”

In the final event of the weekend, a few brave young men tried out for “Bull Poker” taking their chances against the angry bulls with a terrifyingly tense game of ‘last man standing’…or in this case – sitting.

Patrons headed home on Sunday afternoon a little bit dusty, but thoroughly entertained and excited at the prospect of many more Future Fund Rodeos to come…
